Account Deletion Policy

1. How to request deletion

In the Walifi app, open Settings and choose Delete account. If you cannot access the app, use the public deletion request page linked below. We verify the request with a one-time code sent to the account email. We do not reveal whether an email is registered.

2. Items that must be resolved first

Walifi does not automatically cancel these obligations. The eligibility screen identifies blockers and, where supported, links to the relevant area of the app.

• Active booking: complete, cancel, or otherwise resolve the booking.
• Active service request or live bid: close or resolve the request or bid.
• Shared pet owned by you: transfer ownership to an eligible co-owner before deletion.

3. Confirmation and 30-day restoration period

After you enter the verification code and confirm an eligible request, the account becomes pending deletion. Active sessions and push tokens are revoked. The final purge is scheduled for 30 days later.

During that period, signing in to the Walifi app offers an option to restore the account. Restoration cancels the pending purge and expires the export link. After final purge, restoration is no longer available.

4. Data export

The deletion-request email contains a secure, time-limited link to a JSON export. Download it before the 30-day period ends. The link expires if you restore the account or when final deletion completes.

The current export includes core profile, owned pets, booking summaries, authored posts and comments, and authored reviews. Walifi is reviewing expansion of this export for full GDPR portability coverage, including applicable wallet, transaction, preference, and moderation data.

5. What happens at final deletion

• Account identity is anonymized: name becomes Deleted user; email becomes a non-deliverable tombstone; phone and profile image are removed; the account becomes deleted.
• Authentication identities, sessions, and active push tokens are removed or revoked.
• Authored community posts, post attachments, and likes are deleted.
• Comments on content that remains are tombstoned so conversation structure can remain without displaying your identity or original text.
• Review text is removed while the star rating may remain for marketplace integrity.
• Uploaded storage objects selected by the purge are deleted where technically available.
• Provider verification profile fields containing identity or free text are scrubbed.

6. Data that may be retained

Booking and chat history, wallet and transaction ledgers, payment, payout, refund, dispute, tax, accounting, fraud, safety, moderation, and audit records may be retained in anonymized or restricted form where needed to perform contracts, comply with law, protect users and animals, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, or establish legal claims.

Backups and point-in-time recovery data age out according to the backup retention schedule. They are access-restricted and are not used to reactivate a deleted account, except where records are technically restored as part of disaster recovery and deletion must then be re-applied.

7. Shared data and other people's rights

Deletion does not remove another person's account or records they are legally entitled to retain. Shared pets must be transferred before deletion. Messages received by another user and records tied to a booking or dispute may remain with your identity anonymized.

8. Help and privacy rights

If deletion appears blocked incorrectly, you cannot access the account email, or you want to exercise another GDPR right, contact support@walifi.app. We may need to verify identity and may retain limited evidence of the request and its completion.
